Where to throw it › Milk and juice cartons (Tetra Pak)
Where do milk and juice cartons (Tetra Pak) go?
It depends on the municipality: in many they go in paper, in others in plastic (mixed-materials collection).
What to do
- Empty the carton, flatten it and put the cap back on.
- Check your municipality's guide to find out which collection it goes in.
What to avoid
- Do not put it in the wrong bin out of habit: it is one of the cases where municipalities give opposite instructions.
Why it varies from municipality to municipality
It is a classic case where the instruction changes from one municipality to another. Each municipality chooses with its operator which bins to use and what can go in them.
This page summarises a general, cautious rule: the real rules vary from municipality to municipality and from operator to operator (colour of bags, accepted waste, days, collection points). If in doubt, what your municipality or the service operator indicates prevails.
Check your municipality's rules
Search for your municipality to see the collection calendar, the recycling centre's opening hours and, where available, the link to the official guide.
